Kennedyhaus,
Düsseldorf

A modern, open plan office building has been built in the centre of Düsseldorf in close proximity to the Kennedydamm. the new building is characterized by two architectural themes: the typological transformation of the town block into a group of five buildings as well as its protective glass skin.

Four buildings line up in alternation with inner courtyards around a fifth building, the central middle wing. The structure of the five, coupled blocks is arranged so to provide a high level of flexibility. Each floor can either be used separately and by up to five office tenancies, or, as one entire entity. A continuous glass wall protects both, the street facing facades and the courtyards against noise. Coloured, irregularly arranged glass segments keep the elevation faint giving the exterior the impression of a second skin.
