Extracts from the contribution: ´What is planned is a pretty standard house that takes on a unique identity and great spatial appeal by a simple twist. Although the clients had particular requests they were open enough to harmoniously combine those with the structure of the house. On top, it was essential to fulfil the design statutes of the district Stockum, which stipulate a white building with pitched roof and a ridge height of 10 metres. An archetypical house. An image the design transforms by means of a horizontal displacement of levels. Simultaneously, the volume is sunken into the topography, creating an entry and garden room in front of the parental bedroom in the basement. Another feature is the wooden terrace in front of the living room, which recalls the image of a yacht on land. (...)'
